Erik Davis Photography is a boutique studio headquartered in Lincoln Square, a quaint neighborhood on the far North Side of Chicago, conveniently located on Damen Ave just off the Union Pacific North Line Ravenswood stop; a half block from the L-Train, Brown Line, Damen Stop. Here’s, a brief overview about Erik style, what he’ll do for you as your photographer and how he got started in photography.
Erik’s style is described as fun, clean, full of color and texture, with lot’s of motion and emotion in the photographs. Most of the photographs are in-the-moment, and organically capturing action as it is happening. Time permitting, when the formal photographs are taken, he efficiently directs the people for modern looking portraits and group shots, to make them look natural. Erik works with a second photographer and a technical assistant on every wedding. The second photographer is a second pair of eyes, a second angle and adds to the story of the day. Also when time is tight, it allows for the pair of photographers to be in two places at once. The technical assistant helps Erik with lighting, posing and taking great care to make sure all the outfits are correct, especially the bride’s gown, and the grooms tux or suit, are looking clean, polished and beautiful.
Erik goes to great lengths to get what you need for your wedding day. Erik helps you construct a timeline that is realistic, and practical. Erik knows many brides have their own creative goals and Erik works with you in achieving them. He and his associate photographer take all the necessary photographs to insure the story of your day is a complete and unbroken tapestry of images of your big day. Erik believes that if there’s action, it is recorded. Once the images are processed, retouched and curated, expect at least 500-600 images in your final portfolio. All portfolios will be presented on your private protected gallery web page. There you can see your beautiful images, order prints which are printed at one of the top labs in the country. Erik, will then will with your input, design an wedding album that is modern, gorgeous, and the centerpiece to your collection. All albums are hand crafted, lay-flat designs with a fine leather cover and personalized, just as unique as you are! Finally, Erik wants your guests to see the photographs too. He has a system in place for guests to submit their e-mail address, so he can alert them when they’re available. That way you don’t have to do any of the leg work.
Erik Davis got started as a professional photographer back in late 2001 after leaving his career from Aviation. As a trained pilot, Erik worked a lot with high technology, so it was a breeze transitioning into modern photography which is full of high tech gadgets. He has always had a passion for photography since childhood and decided to take the risk in doing it professionally. As a self taught photographer, without formal instruction, he had to work very hard to learn instead, reading books and magazines from the best and brightest in the photography profession and hands on learning from the best photographers in the world, on the seminar circuit. From his training, he has found his voice on how he approaches the wedding day. On a personal basis, Erik is a people person, is easy to be around, and is very good to adapting and overcoming situations that occur in every wedding. Erik strongly believes that a great photographer not only documents the wedding day but blends in to the day like a best friend or well-loved family member!
